    Simon Nathaniel Martin Implantologist Qualified from: BDS University of Manchester 1991 GDC No: 67146

    Dr. Simon Martin graduated from the University of Manchester in 1991. He has owned 2 successful practices. He has been placing implants since 2005 and was awarded the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011. The Diploma involves a minimum of two years post-graduate study based in London, Frankfurt and Tübingen. Dr. Martin is actively involved in the education of both undergraduate and graduate dentists. He is a Final Year tutor at Peninsula Medical and Dental School. He formerly tutored on the Implant Diploma at the RCS and mentors Implant MSc students. He continues to take an active interest in furthering his own professional development, regularly attending courses and lectures.This commitment to continuing education and the maintenance of standards in the Dental Profession has led to a close association with the Faculty of General Dental Practice, of which Dr. Martin is the Southwest Divisional Director.Outside work, he rides his mountain bike enthusiastically, regularly travelling to the French and Italian Alps for excitement. He sails and skis for enjoyment and relaxation. He and his partner Yvonne enjoy the Dartmoor countryside.

    Taneem Shaik GDP Private Qualified from: Statutory Exam 2019 BDS Dr. N.T.R University of Health Sciences 2008 GDC No: 283248

    Following graduation in 2007 Dr Taneem Shaik went on to train in Maxillofacial surgery, successfully obtaining a Masters degree in 2011. Over the years he has worked as an Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at University Hospital in India and an overseas specialist in Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia for 3 years. After moving to the UK, he worked in Maxillofacial surgery at Mid Yorkshire NHS trust, Wakefield until 2020 alongside a general dentistry practice. He relocated to Kent in Sept 2020 and since then has been a working as an NHS and Private dentist there. In April 2024 Taneem started the move down to Cornwall where he works at our Carnon Downs practice as a private clinician 2 days a week. going forward, Taneem is looking to further develop his skills to become an Implant surgeon and in his spare time Taneem enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

    Born in Truro, Amy graduated from Cardiff University in 2012 and went on to work in East Devon before returning to Cornwall where she now works at our Carnon Downs Truro practice.With a huge interest in all aspects of well-being, Amy has additional training in Dental Acupuncture, Adult Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry and ZO skincare and peels and also offers Facial Aesthetics. Amy has done extensive training on working with anxious patients and is very well equipped to work with those that have anxiety during and around their treatments.The calming and relaxing part of Amy exists outside her work too with a keen interest in Yoga, Pilates and Art and any opportunity for a music gig and Amy will jump at it!Amy has a young daughter along with 2 poodles Ody and Uly and a Siamese cat fabulously known as Earl!

    Claire graduated from Queens University, Belfast in 2015 and has since worked in dentistry across the Southwest. Claire enjoys providing the full scope of general dentistry and has a particular interest in working with local technicians to provide a replacement for missing teeth to restore patients to full function.In addition to the clinical role, Claire uses her extensive experience to support new dentists and the Practice as a Clinical Mentor.Noting an increasing demand for aesthetic dentistry, Claire has expanded her skills to manage a wide variety of dental problems, including tooth wear and mis-aligned teeth.   • Freya Stamford
    Freya Stamford GDP Qualified from: BDS Cardiff University 2022 GDC No: 301746

    Freya Stamford graduated from Cardiff University in 2022 and, keen to return to coastal life, moved back to Cornwall to complete her dental foundation training in St Agnes. She joined the team at Carnon Downs in 2023 and enjoys providing a range of general dental treatments, alongside private services including teeth whitening and dental plans. Passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, Freya enjoys helping patients maintain healthy smiles and achieve their oral health goals. She values the variety that general dentistry offers and works closely with colleagues to ensure patients receive the care best suited to their individual needs. Committed to continuous professional development, Freya is looking forward to expanding her skills further and exploring additional areas of dentistry in the future. She enjoys learning about new and alternative dental techniques and regularly collaborates with other clinicians to broaden her knowledge and experience. Outside of the practice, Freya enjoys staying active and making the most of Cornwall’s outdoor lifestyle. She plays for a local netball team and regularly takes part in competitive matches. She also loves spending time by the sea and can often be found surfing, paddleboarding or swimming along Cornwall’s coastline throughout the year.

  • Nico Raubenheimer
    Nico Raubenheimer GDP Qualified from: BChD University of Pretoria 1986 GDC No: 69416

    I completed my high school education in 1968 in South Africa, in a town on the Vaal River called Vanderbijlpark, in Transvaal. After completing a year of National Service in the South African Navy, I started my long journey of post school education (13 years) Completing a BSc in Agriculture. I then went on to complete a dental degree at 30 years old, with the support of my wife and two children. During that time, we had our third child. I then purchased my first dental practice in Cape Town. After many years in 1994 we relocated to the UK, where I joined a dental practice as an associate in Southsea. In 2002 I brought my own practice in the Southsea precinct offering a vast array of treatments including facial and body aesthetics. In 2017, I retired to sunny Cornwall with my wife. After realising golf and gardening couldn’t keep me occupied all the time, I joined {my}dentist, Welldental in Carnon downs, Truro in 2020 as a part time associate with the plan to start offering anti-aging treatments and adult orthodontics in the near future at the practice.

    Sam Wicks graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2023. Inspired by the medical field and his interest in the television series House, he pursued a career in dentistry and now brings a fresh and modern approach to patient care at Carnon Downs. Sam enjoys the unique combination of science and artistry that dentistry offers and is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles. He is committed to delivering high-quality general dentistry using the latest techniques and currently provides a range of treatments, including general dental care, teeth whitening and composite build-ups. He also has aspirations to further develop his skills in endodontics as he continues to expand his clinical knowledge and experience. Known for his enthusiastic approach, Sam enjoys supporting patients on their oral health journey and helping them feel confident in their smiles. Outside of the practice, Sam enjoys exploring Cornwall's scenic coastal routes and discovering new restaurants. He particularly enjoys visiting St Ives, spending time at the arcade and exploring Cornish harbours. A keen cook and baker, he is passionate about creating food from scratch and recently shared a batch of homemade cinnamon buns with the practice team.

    Sarah Stringer Hygienist Qualified from: Foundation Degree in Oral Health Science University of Essex 2011 GDC No: 216333

    Having qualified with distinction from the University of Essex in 2011, Sarah has worked for {my}dentist since 2013. Sarah joined Well Dental in 2020 having worked at the Falmouth branch since 2017 and after relocating to Cornwall. Sarah loves working in a practice at the heart of the community and prides herself on being a gentle and thorough clinician with a particular interest in treating patients with gum problems, and making people feel better about their smiles! Sarah has completed additional training in tooth whitening, dental implant maintenance and airflow stain removal. When Sarah's not at work you can usually find her with her young family at the beach.
